Major Paul Steier
Personal Biography
Mr. Steier is a Major with the Iowa Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Enforcement Office and has been employed with them for 18 years. His supervisory duties include managing the Investigative Unit who work investigations related to vehicle title and registration fraud, odometer and driver's license fraud, and motor vehicle dealer regulations. Prior to his promotion in 2008, he was an Investigator assigned to conduct investigations in Eastern Iowa and specialized in investigating driver's license fraud and identity theft cases. He has provided training on document fraud and identity theft to law enforcement officers and motor vehicle administration staff in Iowa and through-out the United States and Canada.
Major Steier serves as a Board Member for the Iowa Peace Officers Association and serves on the Mount Mercy College Alumni Board. He also serves as Chair of the National Fraudulent Document Recognition Training Program, coordinated by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
Major Steier has a B.A. Degree in criminal justice administration from Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is a certified State of Iowa law enforcement officer and sworn Special Deputy U.S. Marshall serving on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.
At the 2011 IPOA Training Conference in Sioux City, Major Steier was appointed Chairman of the By-Laws committee.
