BOARD MEMBERS

BOARD MEMBERS of the Iowa Peace Officers are both elected and appointed. At the annual Conference in May 2007 the by-laws were changed concerning the election of Board Members. This change includes the manner in which the President is elected or appointed. The existing Board at the time of the change continued to serve for one year and were re-appointed at the next annual conference. Chief Jeff Harnish was the first President appointed by the Board and served for 2 years. William Melville was selected to serve as President in 2009 and served until the 2011 Conference in Sioux City. Chief Lorenzen was elected at the 2011 Conference to serve as President of the IPOA for the next two years, he has appointed Gus Farmer to serve as Vice President.


The appointed committees include the following: Communications/Publications, Finance/Membership, By-Laws, Legislative, Conference/Training. All Chairpersons of these committees are on the Board.

 

Board Members that were ratified in 2011 with the newest member of the Board being Mike McKelvey, Captain Mason City P.D.
